(Above: Video of brush fire burning on the MCAS Miramar airfield captured by SkyFOX) SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Fire crews are working on extinguishing a brush fire in the area of Kearny Villa Road and Miramar Way that began Monday afternoon. The fire was reported on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar property around 2:22 p.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. As of 2:40 p.m., the fire was burning 3 to 4 acres with a moderate rate of spread. Forward progress on the fire was slowed around 2:52 p.m., according to authorities. As of 3:23 p.m., the fire had burned at least 10 acres, according to SDFD. No structures were threatened. According to a post on X/Twitter shortly before 4 p.m. by MCAS Miramar, the brush fire had grown to about 12 acres. The fire was located on the airfield located south of the runways on base, it said.
