RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -A return to a few days of chilly weather is on the way to the area here in Central Virginia as an arctic front will pass by Tuesday. Tonight, will be clear with overnight lows dropping into the middle 20s over the region. Tomorrow, we start the day off with sunshine, but clouds move in later in the afternoon as the front approaches.   Winds will pick up a little bit and highs will only be in the mid to upper 30s. Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny, but on the chilly side.  Wednesday is the colder of the two, with highs back into the lower 40s by Thursday afternoon. All eyes now turn to the weekend in the area. A storm coming out of the Northern Plains will drive a cold front down into the area on Saturday.   Since the storm is passing to the north of us, we will be well into the warm sector on it.  So that is going to set us up for rainfall. The question becomes what will happen on Sunday on the backside of the system.   Several models develop a wave on the backside of the storm which could lead to a wintry mix Sunday evening in the western part of the state.  That’s still a long way off, so let’s not get worked up over it. Should that system form, it could also leave some lingering effects in here for Monday morning. Down the road, there are all kinds of suggestions of a system to deal with in the middle of the week.  But with each model run the location and intensity is changing.  Until things become more consistent, it is only for us to look at.
