SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Nominations for the District 6 House seat vacated by newly elected Herman Otten will now be accepted, Gov. Kristi Noem said in a news release on Monday. Nominations should include the candidate’s name, current physical address, resume, cover letter, and letters of recommendation. All nomination materials must be submitted by Jan. 24. Those wishing to be considered for the vacancy in the House of Representatives, or to offer nominations, should email [email protected]. Legislature opens 2025 work with Noem’s parting words Otten, who will be state Senator until Tuesday, announced on Friday he would not accept the House seat because of personal and family reasons. He had won the election in District 6 in 2024. “Family is far more important than the Legislature,” Otten said to KELOLAND News on Friday.
