On Sunday at around 1:00 p.m., the Ludlow Fire Department was sent to 284 Ventura Street for a report of flames coming out of the garage attached to the home, Ludlow Fire Chief Ryan Pease states. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the garage and was spreading to the rest of the house.
Firefighters had to use tanker trucks from Ludlow, Granby, Palmer, Westover, and Bondsville to put out the fire as there was a lack of hydrants in the area. Within 25 minutes of the crews' arrival, the fire was under control.

No injuries were reported and one resident has been left without a home. The cause of the fire was deemed accidental.
"This was great work by our crews and our mutual aid partners in responding to and acting quickly in an effort to prevent this fire from causing more damage," said Chief Pease. "As always, we are extremely fortunate to have our mutual aid partners working with us."
