[1] Santa Fe man behind bars for the second time this month - Santa Fe police were sent to a home near Zia and Rodeo after getting reports of a stolen vehicle, but the car was still on the move. New Mexico State Police aircraft unit was able to track 38-year-old Shane Sanchez and keep officers on the ground informed of his location. Sanchez then abandoned the vehicle and entered a business where he was arrested. Earlier this month, police say Sanchez was one of 14 people involved in a SWAT standoff.
[2] Albuquerque man sentenced to 20 years for string of armed robberies - An Albuquerque man is set to spend two decades behind bars after committing a string of armed robberies across the metro. According to the Department of Justice, in 2022 Xavior Akina committed five robberies between February 23 and March 13. Akina was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
[3] Wintry start but milder, drier, & calm ahead - Fresh snowfall has blanketed the New Mexican mountains with still more snow falling not only in the northern valleys to the high elevations. Precipitation will mostly end before midnight, allowing for an eventual warming trend with drier westerly winds returning later this week.
[4] Run For the Zoo early registration begins Tuesday - Early registration for this year's Run for the Zoo will open tomorrow. The run helps raise funds for the ABQ BioPark. Those who register between tomorrow and February 17 will get a discount. The run this year is set to be help on May 4.
[5] NM youth soccer club travels to Europe to train with professional English teams - The 09′ NM Rapids Soccer Club, based here in Albuquerque, got a chance to spend several days in London and Manchester training with world-renowned teams. The team also got a chance to play against highly elite youth teams. They won their first two matches, but came up short the their last game.
