HUSKER MEN’S BASKETBALL: Nebraska Suffers 36-Point Loss to No. 20 Purdue A set back on the road Sunday afternoon for the Nebraska men’s basketball team, as the Huskers fell at No. 20 Purdue by the final of 104-68. The Huskers are 0-9 in West Lafayette since joining the Big Ten. Nebraska falls to 2-1 against ranked opponents with Sunday’s loss. Connor Essegian led Nebraska with 17 points, while Brice Williams was held to nine points, matching his lowest output of the season.   HUSKER WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Prince’s 24 Points Sparks Nebraska to Win Over Rutgers A road win Sunday for the Nebraska women’s basketball team, behind true freshman Britt Prince’s career-high 24 points, in a 69-62 victory at Rutgers. Senior center Alexis Markowski produced her seventh double-double of the season and 47th of her career with 14 points and 14 rebounds, as Nebraska improved to 13-4 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten. Nebraska played inspired basketball to honor redshirt junior Allison Weidner, who was likely lost for the season to a significant leg injury in practice on Saturday morning before the Huskers left for New Jersey. Former KFOR Sports Director Chuck Stevens Has Passed Away Chuck Stevens (Courtesy of KFOR/Nebraska HS Sports Hall of Fame) Chuck Stevens, whose voice is synonymous with high school sports coverage in Lincoln for more than 30 years on KFOR and a fixture in Lincoln broadcasting for 52 years, passed away last Thursday. Stevens was KFOR’s sports director, morning sports anchor, play-by-play announcer for High School Sports and Nebraska Wesleyan Athletics from 1982 until his retirement in 2012. Stevens was inducted as a contributor into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame and in 2015, was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame and was named Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year three times. He also served as an account executive for KFOR and had worked in Lincoln broadcasting since 1960. Services for Chuck Stevens are pending. He was 83 years old. PRO VOLLEYBALL: Omaha Sweeps Grand Rapids The Omaha Supernovas used team grit and superb performances from its pins to complete a 25-21, 25-23, 25-22 sweep over the Grand Rapids Rise Sunday night. Kayla Caffey led all Omaha middle blockers with seven kills and five digs. The defending champs are now 2-0 on the season. HUSKER WRESTLING: Manning Win 300th Dual as Nebraska Coach in Dual Victory over No. 4 Minnesota. The No. 6 Nebraska wrestling team took down No. 4 Minnesota behind the efforts of three upset victories for the Big Red, winning the dual 21-13. Head coach Mark Manning notched his 300th dual win at Nebraska, and the Huskers improved to 6-1.
