HOWARD, Wis. (WFRV) - At Bark & Brew, it’s a test of flexibility, strength, and a little bit of patience as pilates enthusiasts are swarmed with their dogs. “People can come in, partake in a fitness experience to start their day, and enjoy some time with their pup," Bark & Brew owner and founder Tara Brunette said. “We do this usually once a month or so, we get a really good turnout. All the dogs have fun and the people get a good workout.” 'Pawlates' events have been hosted at the dog-friendly bar for the last six months, organized by Brunette and fitness instructor Kari Merrill. The latest was held on Sunday at 10 a.m. Manitowoc Lutheran High School holds dedication ceremony for new gymnasium “We both share the passion for dogs so we thought ‘Why not combine the two and have dogs and a workout and make an event out of it,’” Brunette said. The monthly event has only grown with time, as each class receives a bigger turnout, both human and canine, as more people decide to include their dogs when making weekend plans. “It’s really popular, and people don’t like choosing whether to leave the dog at home or go out and do something," Brunette said. "This is a situation where you can bring your dog and still workout and get out of the house and have a fun time.” Monday, Jan. 13 there is trivia night at Bark & Brew beginning at 6 p.m.
