James Island residents can share ideas for new family park during public input meeting

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – James Island residents can help shape the future of a new family park.
The town will host a public input session on Wednesday, Jan. 22 where residents and neighbors are encouraged to share ideas for the new park before any specific plans are made.
Town officials say the new park will sit on six acres of waterfront property at the end of Mill Point Road, which was purchased by the town last year through a combination of Charleston County Greenbelt and Hospitality funds.
"Thanks to the Greenbelt Program, we've been able to preserve and protect this beautiful, undeveloped greenspace for our residents," said James Island Mayor Brook Lyon. "Now, our goal is to work with residents to create a family park our citizens will enjoy for generations to come."
The meeting will be held in the Town Hall Council Chamber at 1122 Dills Bluff Road at 7 p.m.
