Tyler Perry is ripping the "pure greed" of insurance companies for canceling homeowners' policies ahead of the devastating wildfires in California. "Watching a daughter use a garden hose to try and protect her 90-year-old parents' home because their insurance was canceled was just gut-wrenching to me," the "Divorce in the Black" director wrote in a Sunday Instagram post. "Does anyone else find it appalling that insurance companies can take billions of dollars out of communities for years and then, all of a sudden, be allowed to cancel millions of policies for the very people they became rich on?" Perry, 55, asked. "People who have paid premiums all of their lives are left with nothing because of pure greed," he wrote to his more than 7 million followers.  Last week, California's insurance commissioner issued a one-year moratorium on policy nonrenewals and cancellations for parts of Los Angeles hit by the wildfires, which have killed at least 24 people and burned more than 12,000 structures.  Last month, California officials announced new regulations requiring insurance companies to sell coverage in wildfire-prone regions. The move came following an exodus of insurers in areas of the state affected by intensifying wildfires.  In his social media post, Perry expressed empathy for the victims of the latest blazes. "As I am in the process of trying to figure out what steps to take to do all I can to help as many as I can, I am keeping everyone in my prayers," he said.
