ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Pittsford CommUNITY, a community-driven nonprofit in Pittsford, is holding its annual MLK Living the Dream Series throughout the month of January, into the first week of February.
The first event took place on Wednesday. News 8 was invited into the United Church of Pittsford where jazz filled the room to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Although the official holiday isn’t until Jan. 20, celebrations like this one will continue throughout the rest of the month.
Sunday, officials shared the lineup of events with News 8. All of the events are slated to take place at the United Church of Pittsford at 123 South Main Street.
"Created and held annually since 2019, a team of residents started this series with Kevin Beckford after he was elected as the first African-American to the Pittsford Town Board. Hundreds of people within and outside Pittsford have come to celebrate and learn to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. We are excited to be bringing and expanding the MLK Living the Dream Series to five events in 2025," Pittsford CommUNITY announced.
