FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Fluvanna County director of Emergency Services has been arrested and charged with sexual battery and assault and battery in connection to alleged incidents that occurred in 2023 and 2024. According to Fluvanna County Attorney Dan Whitten, on Friday, Jan. 10, James True, the Fluvanna County director of Emergency Services, was arrested on seven counts of sexual battery and two counts of assault and battery. Whitten said all charges are alleged to have occurred between October of 2023 and July of 2024. "The criminal charges developed after two county employees filed initial crime reports with the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, completed criminal complaints, and participated in probable cause hearings before the magistrate," Whitten said. True reportedly turned himself in to the sheriff's office and was taken into custody without incident. He is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail with arraignment scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14. True was immediately placed on administrative leave by the county administrator upon learning of the first filed charge. An internal administrative investigation has been initiated. "There have been no complaints lodged by any citizens served by the Department ofEmergency Services related to any similar offenses and it is not believed that these allegationsextend outside of the department," Whitten said.
