RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) warned Richmond residents Sunday that a potential refreeze could happen overnight into Monday morning. VDOT's Richmond District posted on social media to warn Monday morning commuters that a refreeze could happen and affect Richmond roadways. A refreeze can happen when snow melts during the day, leaving wet roadways to turn back to ice as temperatures drop overnight. The department offered the following tips to avoid endangering yourself: Plan ahead and leave early if necessary Slow down Increase the distance between you and any cars you follow Make sure to check travel conditions and local forecasts Visit the VDOT Richmond page on the social media platform X for more information.
