MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is dead and another man is in custody after a fatal shooting at a gas station on Saturday night, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirmed. At approximately 10 p.m., SCSO detectives began investigating a shooting at the 5300 block of U.S. Highway 51, just south of Fite Road in Shelby County. A man was taken to Regional One in critical condition where he was later pronounced deceased. Sunday night, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office announced that 39-year-old Anthony Nelson had been arrested and charged with the shooting. Mugshot courtesy of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office According to SCSO, Nelson was taken into custody after Hardin County deputies and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers executed a search warrant at a home on Dorothy Ann Lane in Saltillo, Tennessee. The sheriff's office says Nelson has been charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held in the Hardin County Jail and will be transferred to the Shelby County Jail, SCSO says.
