Court records show that Crisan Vasile and Stefan Florin were captured on surveillance footage loading over 100 boxes of smoke detectors into a shopping cart at a KC Home Depot. While Florin distracted a store employee, Vasile scanned lesser items and paid $27.72 on a gift card.
The value of the smoke detectors stolen amounted to $5,180. Vasile and Florin exited the store with the smoke detectors after paying for the other items.
An asset protection officer at that Home Depot alerted police and the two men were arrested on October 14, 2024, in Chesterfield, Missouri after stealing smoke detectors again from a Lowe's store. Now, they're both charged with stealing.
