HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Everyone's favorite cookie season is right around the corner and Girl Scout troops statewide are gearing up to sell you your favorites. Download the free KHON2 app for iOS or Android to stay informed on the latest news From Samoas to Thin Mints to Tagalongs, Girl Scout cookie season is about to be in full swing with Hawaii troops attending its annual Cookie University at American Savings Bank. Happy 100th Birthday, American Savings Bank! Nearly 200 girls met with professionals in finance, sales, customer service and media to learn valuable business skills. "This is important for a couple of reasons. It's one of our four pillars, right? Entrepreneurship. So Girl Scouts learn everything there is to learn about entrepreneurship through selling cookies," said Dr. Kanoe Naone, Girl Scouts of Hawaii CEO. Naone added that Girl Scout cookie season teaches girls how to set budgets, goals and decide what to do with their money. All earned funds stay within the troops to use towards whatever activities they want. Cookie lovers can pre-order their favorites now with booth sales beginning in February. "We have a digital online cookie. So girls create their own little website with their story, why they're selling and what their goal is. So if you know a Girl Scout, you can find their digital cookies, but typically they get sent out," said Dr. Naone.
