MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A devastating wildfire in Los Angeles has left a former WREG anchor, Karen Carlson, with nothing. She's lost her home, her car and nearly all of her belongings. Now, Carlson said she's heartbroken and feels trapped as she's struggling to come to terms with the loss of everything she owned. "I'm running out of time," Carlson said. "I'm running out of money and jewelry to sell - I know many people are worse, but I have hope. That's the only thing I do have but it's hanging by a thread." Carlson said she was able to escape the fire without harm but witnessed chaos and mayhem in the streets as people desperately tried to flee. "What you see is just people desperately trying to get out of town," Carlson said. "I don't have a car. I don't have a house. I just had knee surgery. I can't even run away. I'm trapped." Los Angeles wildfires: 16 dead, more than a dozen missing as crews continue fighting blazes Despite the challenges, Carlson is grateful for the support of the hotel which is providing her with free accommodations. "I'm actually at the Hilton LAX and they've been lovely," Carlson said. "They have been lovely, which is great." While Carlson has a place to lay her head, she said that she's still trying to pick up the pieces and move forward with her life. "Let me just show you what I have left - a couple of pictures of my grandmother. So, this is what I've got," Carlson said. "The good thing (is) I got a sleeping bag. So, if I can get enough money to get out of here, at least I have somewhere to camp." If you would like to donate, click here.
