PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Some schools will operate remotely or remain closed on Monday due to road conditions caused by the winter storm. The following delays and closings are on Monday, January 13. Check back for updates. Stokes County Schools According to a Facebook post, Stokes County Schools operate on a remote learning day on Monday. Alleghany County Schools According to a Facebook post, Alleghany High School, Sparta, NC, Glade Creek School, Piney Creek School, and Sparta Elementary School will have a remote learning day on Monday, January 13, 2025, for all students. Employees will follow Code E. Guilford County Schools Guilford County Schools released the following statement Sunday: Due to continued hazardous conditions on secondary roads, Guilford County Schools will operate remotely, Monday, Jan. 13. Essential staff will report on their normal schedule. All other staff will operate according to Plan B. Students should check Canvas for their assignments. Meals will be available to school-age children from noon to 1 p.m. at Dudley High, Rankin Elementary and Union Hill Elementary. Staff members are asked to check their email for more information. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools WS/FCS released the following statement Sunday: Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, January 13. Lexington City Schools Lexington City Schools released the following statement Sunday: Due to forecasted inclement weather on Monday, January 13, 2025, schools will be closed to students, and all evening activities are canceled. For staff, Monday will be an optional work day with a 3-hour delay. Please use your best judgment regarding travel conditions. If you cannot travel safely, notify your principal or supervisor and coordinate accordingly. Assignments or tests scheduled for the day will be postponed to a later date.
