DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- A teenager was killed in a daytime shooting in north Durham on Saturday, police said. The incident was reported as a "gunshot wound" around 2:40 p.m. in the 4800 block of Danube Lane, a few blocks south of Hebron Road, according to a Durham Police Department news release. "Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old male juvenile who had been shot," the news release said. Greensboro police investigate homicide at North Elm Street, Sommerton Drive EMS crews soon arrived and the teen was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The area is near Magnolia Pointe apartments and the Magnolia Creek neighborhood. "Investigators are on scene working to determine the circumstances surrounding this shooting," officers said in the release. Neighbors called the shooting a tragedy. “Teenagers, young, young boys getting killed -- over nothing,” said neighbor Wayne Bell. “Too young. Anybody's too young, but that was too young.” Bell said he was at home when he heard the shots. “Well what I heard was a really loud bang, bang, bang, bang, bang,” he said, adding he also called the police. Bell said he is praying for the victim’s family and the community, and hoping for justice for the shooter. 1 dead, 2 hurt after shots fired into High Point home “I'm praying that if anybody knows who he is, they need to turn him in so he don't shoot their family,” Bell said.
