FARGO, ND (KXNET) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded nearly $4 million to Hector International Airport in Fargo for its Terminal Expansion Project. Senator John Hoeven announced the funding earlier this week. He says the money was made available under the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program, which is one of multiple the senator has worked to support as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee in order to help expand North Dakota’s airports. Hoeven has now secured more than $39 million for Hector International Airport. “The Fargo-Moorhead region has grown rapidly, both in terms of people and in economic activity. In fact, the metro’s population has grown by nearly 35 percent since the airport received its last major update in 2008,” Hoeven said. “That’s why we are working to fund awards like today’s $4 million grant to make Hector International’s Terminal Expansion Project a reality. Doing so is needed to meet the demands of this dynamic region.” DOT awards $24.5 million for repairs to I-94 The FAA has also awarded about $1.85 million to five other airports across the Peace Garden State: $585,000 to construct a new hangar at Hutson Field in Grafton More than $420,000 to support construction of a storm sewer at Minot International Airport $444,000 to rehabilitate South Apron pavement at International Peace Garden Airport near Dunseith Nearly $200,000 to reconstruct runway lighting at Carrington Municipal Airport Nearly $200,000 to reconstruct airfield storm sewer inlets at Devils Lake Regional Airport To learn more about the expansion project at Hector International, go to the airport's website.
