A 14-year-old girl was killed in a three-car crash in southern Connecticut Sunday morning, police said.
Chloe Ramsubhag, a Waterbury resident, was a passenger in a Honda Civic that was involved in the wreck on State Route 8 in Shelton around 12:30 a.m., the Connecticut Post reported.
Investigators said Devin Remsubhag, 36, was driving the Civic northbound near Exit 7 when it was struck by a Honda CR-V driven by Carlos Beamonte, according to local ABC affiliate WTNH. Beamonte, a 37-year-old Shelton resident, drove on and fled the scene of the crash, cops charged.
The impact sent the Remsubhags and their Civic over the grass median and into the southbound lanes, the CT Post reported. They were then struck on the passenger side by a Honda Accord traveling southbound, killing Chloe Remsubhag, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the Accord driver as Amarley Cresenti Ewers, a 22-year-old Stamford resident, according to WTNH. She was transported to a hospital to treat her injuries.
Beamonte, the CR-V driver, was also hospitalized. According to police, he actually called 911 to report the incident, and investigators later determined he was involved and left the scene, WTNH reported.
Devin Remsubhag was hospitalized as well, according to local CBS affiliate WFSB. Of the three surviving drivers, Remsubhag’s injuries were the most serious, authorities said. Connecticut State Police are investigating the wreck.
