The Kennedy Expressway’s reversible express lanes will reopen Monday in time for morning rush hour after nearly a year of construction. The Illinois Department of Transportation said Sunday the lanes would be open by 5 a.m., weather permitting. Starting Thursday, lanes will be closed overnight for three nights to remove the barricades and put down new pavement markings. At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times, according to the transportation department.Chicago is tied with New York City for the second worst traffic in the world, a study from Inrix, which studies transportation and traffic, recently found. Traffic also got worse in the city over the last year as the Kennedy was under construction, the study determined.
