ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police Department (APD) detectives arrested two teens suspected of murdering a 15-year-old on New Year's Eve. Fifteen-year-old Manuel Ortega was killed, with one of the teens accused in his death appearing to have ambushed him. On New Year's Eve, police responded to a shooting at Anderson Mesa Park near Unser and Dennis Chavez.      According to police, Ortega was at the park with his younger brother to buy a gun from 17-year-old Adrian Torres. The two had been communicating through the Telegram app. Police said Torres brought 16-year-old Uriel Alonso to the meeting. APD says Torres hid behind a nearby bush while Alonso drove up to meet the brothers. Police said Ortega's brother got into the vehicle with Alonso, while Ortega waited outside the car. APD said Torres then came out from the bush and shot Ortega twice before jumping in the vehicle with Alonso and fleeing the scene. Clovis police investigate overnight fatal shooting Ortega's brother, who had gotten out of the vehicle, went to check on Manuel before police said video showed him firing multiple shots in the direction of the fleeing vehicle. Homicide detectives say they were able to access social media messages, photos, and videos that supported other evidence linking Torres and Alonso to the shooting. Torres was arrested on Thursday while APD said Alonso turned himself in to police Saturday. Both teens are facing murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy charges.
