Intoxicated man with 2 guns causes disturbance, evacuations in Shawano County village

WITTENBERG, Wis. (WFRV) - An alleged intoxicated man who had two guns on him when he entered a Shawano County residence caused quite a disturbance on Saturday night before being taken into custody.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff's Office, a 911 call came in around 9:50 p.m. on January 11 saying a man had entered a residence in Wittenberg with two firearms and caused a disturbance.

The 36-year-old man was allegedly intoxicated and fled from the scene after a brief struggle into a nearby residence, leaving one of the guns at the original scene.
The Shawano County Special Response Team and an armored personnel vehicle from the Marathon County Multi-Agency S.W.A.T. Team were called in. Several nearby residences were ordered to evacuate and a shelter was provided at the Village of Wittenberg Village Hall.
Authorities surrounded the suspect's residence and were able to make contact with him. Around 1:15 a.m. on January 12, the 36-year-old was taken into custody.

The man is currently being held at the Shawano County Jail and several felony charges were referred to the Shawano County District Attorney’s Office for review.
The release did note that no shots were fired during the incident.
