$25 for a hot chocolate? What's in this 'world famous' Colorado cocoa

DENVER (KDVR) — A hot chocolate served in the Colorado ski town of Vail is circling the internet. It's expensive as far as hot chocolate prices go, even for a ski town, but it's not your average hot chocolate, either.
It's known as the Haute Chocolate, a specialty drink made at The Remedy Bar located within Four Seasons Resort and Residences' Vail property.

While there's only one spot to get this renowned hot chocolate, many people have made the trip to try it. A Four Seasons Resort spokesperson told Nexstar's KDVR the year-over-year demand for this hot chocolate was so high they had to employ a "Haus Chocolatier," whose sole responsibility is to make the "world-famous" hot chocolate.
You can see one such cup of cocoa in the photo below, shared with KDVR.

But its double-digit price — $25, or $31 if you choose to add whiskey or peppermint schnapps — isn't just a reflection of the renowned, expensive ski town where it's found. The pricey part of the hot chocolate comes from its core: the chocolate, which Four Seasons Resort said is Valrhona.
Valrhona is a French company specializing in gourmet chocolate products. While Vail can be expensive, even ordering the Valrhona hot chocolate mix on Amazon is upwards of $40.
The resort said the chocolate is paired with steamed milk, and churned tableside from a traditional French hot chocolate pot. Then, it's topped with a homemade marshmallow, hand-crafted chocolate lattice and chocolate shavings.

The hot chocolate arrives at the table with all its parts. Then, as filmed in several videos across social media, the hot drink is poured over the marshmallow, chocolate lattice, and shavings to combine into the drink.
Whether or not you would pay double digits for a hot chocolate is up to you, but know that you won't be the only one. A spokesperson for the resort said visitors from all over the world have tried it.
