NMSU women get past rival UTEP for 6549 win

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KTSM) — The New Mexico State women's basketball team played its way to a 65-49 win over Battle of I-10 rival UTEP in a Conference USA game at the Pan American Center on Saturday.

New Mexico State's Molly Kaiser dropped 32 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field, 2-of-3 shooting from three, and 8-of-10 shooting from the free throw line. Diarra Sissoko was the Aggies' second leading scorer in the game as she recorded 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor.

UTEP was led by Portia Adams, who recorded 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting from the floor. Ndack Mbengue and Ivane Tensaie each scored 9 points. Irene Asensio recorded 8 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the floor.
With the win, New Mexico State improved to 9-7 overall and and 2-1 in Conference USA play. The Aggies currently sit in fourth place in the league standings after Saturday. The win over UTEP was also New Mexico State's second consecutive win over the Miners.
UTEP fell to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in Conference USA play.
UP NEXT
New Mexico State (9-7, 2-1 CUSA) returns to Las Cruces for its next two games. NMSU will play FIU on Jan. 16 and then Liberty on Jan. 18. Both games at Pan American Center.
UTEP (8-6, 1-2 CUSA) will play its next two games at the Don Haskins Center. UTEP will play Liberty on Jan. 16 and then FIU on Jan. 18.
