It will be a chilly start for Sunday morning with temps starting out in the teens in Denver. On Sunday, well see a bit of a break in the weather. The snow in the mountains will continue, but at much lighter levels, with minimal impacts as we wrap up the weekend. On the plains, its going to be cooler, with northwesterly winds keeping things breezy. However, the dry weather will prevail, and any snow showers on the eastern side of the Palmer Divide will be light and scattered, with little accumulation expected. It looks like a calmer day overall, though it will stay on the chilly side.Looking ahead to next week, were in for a dry stretch. Monday through Thursday will bring generally quiet weather with warming temperatures. High pressure will dominate the region, leading to sunny skies and mild conditions. Well see temperatures gradually warming up to near normal levels for mid-January. This is a good time to enjoy the dry weather if youre planning outdoor activities, as the rain and snow chances will be low.By the end of next week, however, things are expected to get a lot more interesting. Right now, were forecasting a change in the weather pattern as we move into the weekend. An area of low pressure will begin to approach, bringing in a MUCH colder air mass. This could result in a substantial drop in temperatures, possibly 30 to 35 degrees below average for this time of year. The transition to this colder pattern may bring snow, but the exact timing and amount of moisture are still uncertain.DENVER WEATHER LINKS: Hourly forecast | Radars | Traffic | Weather Page | 24/7 Weather Stream Click here to watch the Denver7 live weather stream.
