ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The 2025 APS metro basketball championships came to a close on Saturday. Volcano Vista won the boys title for a fourth consecutive year while Hobbs was crowned in the girls bracket. Volcano Vista played Sandia in the boys championship. The Hawks defense stepped up and did not allow a single point inside of the three point line in the first half. Sandia only scored a total of three points in the second quarter. Volcano held a lead and continued to rack up points for a 61-57 win. Hobbs was matched up against perennial 4A contender Kirtland Central. From the start, it the lady Eagles were able to soar to a big lead. Hobbs put up 83 points and held the Broncos to a season low of 49.
