Cold rain expected Sunday night into Monday morning across South Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A low pressure system moving in from the Gulf will bring a cold rain to the area Sunday night into Monday morning, but severe weather is not expected.
Coastal areas in Louisiana and Mississippi are likely to see the heaviest rainfall, with totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches. Areas farther inland can expect lower amounts. Rainfall could briefly be heavy in some spots, which may lead to minor ponding in urban areas.
Despite the cold temperatures, winter weather like snow or ice won’t be an issue, as temperatures during the rain will remain in the low 50s.
After the rain moves out Monday morning, dry and chilly conditions will settle in for the rest of the workweek.
Temperatures will dip to near freezing by Tuesday morning, with a brisk wind chill making it feel even colder—down into the 20s and 30s. Tuesday morning is expected to be the coldest of the week, so bundle up, and remember to protect pets, plants, and pipes.
A gradual warming trend begins midweek, with afternoon highs climbing into the mid-50s to low 60s. Expect mostly clear skies and pleasant, dry weather through Friday.
