Entire state under drought conditions
Jan 11, 2025
HONOLULU (KHON2) - The threat for nuisance flooding and a low but non-zero threat for flash flooding will therefore exist in this area between early afternoon and the loss of heating this evening.
Elsewhere and otherwise, breezy unstable trades persist but poor moisture depth prevents the development of widespread heavy showers.
Instead, expect showers to largely be of typical character with the occasional isolated heavy shower within any localized pockets of deeper moisture.
Breezy trades continue into Sunday, weakening as the day progresses in response to a digging mid-latitude trough.
This trough will usher a remnant front into the area and will be of little consequence aside from slightly weakening the trades.
A moderate trade wind pattern then prevails through the middle of next week.
Consensus remains solid among the extended guidance which indicate renewed trough amplification over the islands forcing a cold front through most or all of the area late in the week.
This potentially brings cooler weather with dewpoints falling into the 50s by the weekend.
Small Craft Advisory until 6 PM HST Sunday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward Waters, Big Island Southeast Waters.
