AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Fire Department responded to a fire in south Austin Saturday evening around 6:00 P.M. AFD says the fire was located in the 7800 block of Peaceful Hill Lane, near the intersection of West William Cannon Drive and South Congress Avenue. (Austin Fire Department Photo) A spokesperson with AFD told KXAN the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it did take place in a homeless encampment. Multiple man-made structures were found on the property which was empty when firefighters arrived according to AFD. AFD says they have responded to this property multiple times over the past few weeks. AFD said crews were able to extinguish the fire at 7:00 p.m. In addition to the structure, an 18-wheeler and tire piles also caught on fire. The Austin active fire incident page said the call for the fire came in just before 6:00 p.m. AFD told KXAN that no one was inside the structure and there were no reported injuries.
