While searching the home, crews found the dog dead.
The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes, according to the fire department.
A person was evaluated for smoke inhalation at the scene; however, no additional injuries were reported.
LCFR determined that the fire was accidental and caused by an "unspecified electrical event" believed to have started in a space between the first and second floors.
Crews said there were working smoke alarms in the home, which alerted the residents to the fire, giving them time to escape.
