VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A Vista man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of firing a "less lethal" rubber bullet gun at a vehicle during a road rage incident that occurred nearly two weeks earlier, authorities said. According to San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the incident took place on Dec. 28, 2024, near the intersection of North Melrose Drive and West Bobier Drive. A driver, identified as 36-year-old Kyle Macpherson, allegedly fired at another vehicle, causing significant damage but no injuries. The damage to the vehicle was estimated at over $1,400. How close are the Los Angeles fires to San Diego? Following a thorough investigation, detectives from the Vista Sheriff's Station were able to obtain a search warrant and a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) for Macpherson. On the morning of Jan. 9, around 6 a.m., detectives located the suspect as he was leaving his home on the 600 block of Ascot Drive. During a traffic stop, investigators discovered two "less lethal" handguns, a billy club and ammunition in Macpherson's car. A search of his residence uncovered 13 firearms along with more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, authorities confirmed. Macpherson was arrested without incident and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. He faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a billy club and felony vandalism. Authorities have not disclosed whether Macpherson has a prior criminal record.
