2 men arrested in 8year cold murder case: SDPS

(KRON) – The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (SDPS) arrested two suspects on murder charges in an eight-year cold case.
Early morning on Jun. 8, 2017, SDPS officers responded to an establishment in the 900 block of E. Duane Avenue for the report of a shooting.
Responding officers located two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to the hospital and survived his injuries.

The department said despite an “extensive investigation” the case went cold. In 2024, SDPS collaborated with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and identified two suspects in the case.
The suspects were identified as Vicente Aguilera-Chavez and Agustin Sandoval. Both were arrested on Thursday and Friday by the SDPS SWAT team.
Aguilera-Chavez and Sandova were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder.
