CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Xaivian Lee loves playing against Harvard. The junior guard totaled 22 points to lead Princeton to a 68-64 victory over the Crimson on Saturday in the Ivy League opener at Laveties Pavilion. Lee has scored 27, 33 and 22 points in his last three games against Harvard for an average of 27.3 per game. “Harvard?” Lee said when asked in his postgame TV interview what those numbers meant. “It just happened to go that way. I thought we did a good job today of moving without the ball and it got me open looks. It’s easy to score when we’re all moving like that.” Lee shot 8-of-13 from the field, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range, and went 3-for-5 from the free-throw line for the Tigers (12-4, 1-0). Caden Pierce scored nine points and added eight rebounds in 37 minutes after missing a game with a sprained right ankle. Dalen Davis also scored nine. Chandler Pigge finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three steals to pace the Crimson (5-9, 0-1). Robert Hinton added 14 points and six rebounds, while Thomas Batties II scored 13. Harvard made it a 66-62 contest with 24 seconds on the clock, but a pair of clutch free throws by Davis along with a late block by Jackson Hicke sealed the victory for Princeton. “They did a really good job down the stretch of trapping and kind of speeding us up. Me and Dalen turned it over a couple of times, which was uncharacteristic of us,” Lee said. “We need to do a better job holding our guts there, but credit to them for ramping it up. That’s what you kind of expect in a league game, so I think that’s a good taste of what’s to come for the rest of Ivy League play.” Women’s Basketball Rider 79, Niagara 59 LAWRENCEVILLE — Gabby Turco scored 24 points, Mariona Cos-Morales added 13 and the Broncs (3-11, 1-4) overcame 27 turnovers to beat the Purple Eagles (1-12, 0-5) and earn their first MAAC win. Rider also snapped a four-game skid. TCNJ 82, Rutgers-Newark 50 NEWARK — Nina Branchizio led three players in double figures with 19 points, Grace Kowalski scored 17 and Katie Fricker had 14 as the Lions (11-3, 7-0) remained on top of the NJAC standings with an easy victory over the Scarlet Raptors (3-11, 0-7).
