RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - After our second winter storm of this week on late Friday through early Saturday across Central Virginia, we are in for some additional cold overnights. More chilly weather returns next work week, more on that in a moment. I collected top snowfall totals this afternoon across Central Virginia from the January 10th-11th winter storm, here they are. Some impressive snowfall totals from our most recent winter storm, which is well offshore at this point tonight. We are in for the triple C tonight on this Saturday night, clear skies, calm winds and cold temperatures, with lows dipping down into the teens and low 20s. I am concerned about icy roads developing overnight, especially on those secondary roads and in the neighborhoods across Central Virginia. Roads across the viewing area that see lots of shade from the trees will be prone to seeing icy conditions on Sunday morning, so plan accordingly. Sunday for the second half of this current weekend, features lots of sunshine, less breezy conditions and chilly afternoon temperatures rising to around 40 degrees. Lots of snowmelt will be happening tomorrow. I still can’t fully rule out isolated icy roads developing on Monday morning as well, so keep that in mind as you head back to work on Monday. Monday will be our warmest day we have seen in a while, with high temperatures approaching 45 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Additional snowmelt will be happening on Monday. Monday night into Tuesday morning, we will see a dry cold frontal passage, and this will lead to the return of well below average afternoon temperatures. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next work week will all be chilly days with high temperatures struggling to rise into the 30s. Friday brings mostly sunny skies and near seasonable afternoon temperatures, rising to around 45 degrees. Next weekend, preliminarily, for the long MLK day weekend, features our next storm system, there are plenty of question marks with this, so check back as we fine tune the details in the coming days. Going to remain quite chilly through late January as well.
