INDIANAPOLIS — A teenage girl was found dead at an apartment complex on south side of Indianapolis Saturday morning. Per the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Salisbury Lane around 11 a.m. on a report of a person down. When police arrived at the scene, they found a juvenile female in an apartment complex's outdoor courtyard area. Law enforcement ultimately determined the girl had sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Medics were called to the complex, but the girl was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. IMPD indicated that is has not arrested any suspects at this point in its investigation of the shooting. Police are also working to determine exactly when the shooting occurred. Investigators have not ascertained if the victim lived at the apartment complex where she was found dead. The Marion County Coroner's Office is helping IMPD determine the victim's exact manner and cause of death. The county coroner's office will also publicly identify the decedent at a later date.
