MATTHEWS, N.C. – One northbound lane on East John Street in Matthews will be closed through Monday afternoon to repave after a water pipe repair. Charlotte Water said crews have temporarily closed one lane on East John Street near Trade Street in Matthews. The pipe burst after freezing temperatures stormed through the Charlotte Metro area on Friday night. Crews expect the lane to be closed until Monday afternoon. Officials ask those traveling to continue to use caution on the roads.
