Wind chills are expected to get as low as -40 on Monday as those Arctic winds come in. Winter weather road tips: Staying safe while navigating the snow and ice As the snow continues to fall, be careful while driving. The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) reports snow-covered roads in most of Bismarck, with scattered snow drifts in the southern part. Across the river in Mandan, the NDDOT reports wet roads with slush and some snow drifts. In Minot, the NDDOT reports lots of scattered ice. The roads are very slippery, so you should drive only if you have to and with extreme caution. KX News Chief Meteorologist Kenny Miller says to watch out for the temperature drop across the state tomorrow and Monday, which will see conditions colder than at any point in the last month. "25 to 30-degree drop off, values back near zero in some locations. A high of two below for Minot in fact as we get into Monday, and those wind chills unfortunately are going to be even worse," Miller says. "Minot's wind chills will be 30-40 below as we get into Sunday and Monday." However, Miller says, there is hope, as temperatures will rise again after we get through the next two days. "When we get to Wednesday, Thursday, we're almost in the middle of the month, and we're in the 40s almost, so not the worst thing in the world," Miller said.
