A 37-year-old man is in custody after a multi-county police chase involving a stolen semi-truck out of Indiana, the Butler County Sheriff's Office said. The sheriff's office said that Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) deputies began the pursuit in Middletown around 12:45 p.m. after a semi was stolen in Indiana. Middletown police officers then joined the pursuit to assist OSHP, as well as officers from the Trenton Police Department. The driver of the semi attempted to escape the chase by throwing hammers and a variety of tools out of the driver-side window, the sheriff's office said. The chase entered Preble County before re-entering Butler County, where Butler County patrol units also began pursuing the semi on State Route 127. A video from witnesses shared with WCPO shows multiple police vehicles following a white semi-cab past Couchs grocery market in New Miami. The sheriff's office said the pursuit lasted roughly 90 minutes. Joseph Allen Horton was arrested after the pursuit. The sheriff's office said he's charged with failure to comply, a third-degree felony, and receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. The sheriff's office said more charges are pending as this is an ongoing investigation involving multiple jurisdictions.
