WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WWLP) - A man from Windsor Locks has been found guilty of committing two robberies in February 2020, and faces a maximum of 40 years of imprisonment. Geoffrey Shapiro, 44, was charged with one count of interference with commerce by robbery, and one count of armed bank robbery. The trial began on January 8, and the verdict was returned on January 10. Drugs, gun seized during Holyoke investigation Evidence presented during the trial stated that Shapiro visited a Dunkin' Donuts in Simsbury on February 9, 2020, first ordering and then pulling out a handgun and pointing it at the cashier. Shapiro was quoted saying "Give me the money" twice to the employee and was given approximately $390 before he left the building. Later that month, on February 21, Shapiro went to Webster Bank in Glastonbury. He handed the bank teller a note that included statements such as "Stay calm" and "I have a gun," and the teller gave Shapiro $1,837 from her drawer. Shapiro returned to his home, and later in the day Glastonbury officers came and arrested him. Police searched Shapiro's vehicle and found a handgun, the demand note that was used during Shapiro's bank robbery, clothes worn during the robberies, and additional evidence. The Westfield Police Department has also made a public statement, saying that Shapiro has been identified as the man who robbed the Westfield TD Bank in February 2020.
