PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Dominion Energy said Saturday morning that the overnight snowfall did not lead to extensive power outages in their service areas in eastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.
In a release from Dominion Energy, they specified that about 3,000 customers in these regions lost power at some point from the time the snow began. Some of these outages were due to weather and others were from non-weather-related causes.
Of the 3,000, about 1,800 customers lost power in Carrollton when a tree limb fell on a power line around 5 this morning. All of those customers were restored around 7 a.m.
Dominion said they are continuing to monitor the forecast and they are fully staffed all weekend with crews ready to respond.
