AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The day dawned with a clear sky and very cold temperatures. The area had excellent radiational cooling overnight with the clear sky, dew points in the teens and 20s and light winds. Most area lows were in the 20s. There were a few Hill Country thermometers that dropped below 20°. Camp Mabry's low of 27° and Austin-Bergstrom's low of 23° were both 14° below normal. A day full of sunshine and a dry, warm southwest wind will send temperatures to the upper half of the 50s this afternoon. There will be a few hours during the afternoon with wind gusts of 15 to 20 mph. Much warmer today after a cold week Gusty winds this afternoon Overnight lows will be higher than this morning's. Most area minimums Sunday will be in the low to mid 30s. A few area lows Sunday will fall below freezing A dry cold front arrives Sunday morning leaving another dry northwest to north wind. Most highs Sunday will be in the upper 50s to low 60s under a mostly sunny to occasionally partly cloudy sky. NEW: La Niña has officially started: What happens next Next work week Sunday's front leaves cooler air (highs in the 50s) for the first half of the week. Warmer air with highs in the 60s will be part of the late-week outlook. The next chance of rain will be Friday with, for now, a 20% probability.
