Wally Siegel reappointed as North Perry Village public works superintendent

North Perry Village Council has reappointed one of the community government’s administrators.
Council this week approved a resolution to extend the contract of Wally Siegel as the village’s part-time public works superintendent.
The resolution calls for North Perry to renew its pact with Siegel for a period of one year, retroactive to Jan. 1. He will receive an annual salary of $20,000, with no health insurance, the resolution stated.
Council voted to approve Siegel’s reappointment by a 5-0 vote, with Councilman Ken Siegel abstaining. Ken and Wally are brothers.
This same resolution was set for a third and final reading at the Dec. 5 council meeting, but that gathering was canceled because of severe weather.
Siegel’s role as village public works superintendent is separate from a part-time position he simultaneously holds as North Perry’s zoning inspector.
Council initially appointed Siegel as public works superintendent on April 4 of last year. He replaced Mike Cutler, who resigned on March 12.
Siegel was chosen by council to become village zoning inspector in September of 2023.
Cutler had served as public works superintendent for about 1 1/2 years before stepping down.
He also had served for nine years on council before deciding not to seek re-election in 2019. During that same year, he ran for North Perry Village mayor and lost to incumbent Ed Klco in a three-person race.
Siegel had worked for many years as full-time administrator in Perry Township, before retiring in 2017.
North Perry Village Mayor Brian Titus spoke highly of Siegel after council selected him in April as public works superintendent.
“Wally has a lot of experience in this arena and I believe he’ll be a good fit to continue with the goals we have going forward,” Titus said.
