Jan 10, 2025
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – January 10 has been named 'Quitters Day' because it is the day in which most people have given up on their new year's resolutions. Quitting smoking often a very popular new year's resolution.
Experts say that quitting smoking can be a big step in improving ones health. The University of Rochester Medical Center Wilmot Cancer Institute provides resources and services for those in the community who are looking to quit.
They provide services with counseling or medication all free of cost.
"We definitely don't want to be a secret in our community. We want people to know about it and the more the merrier, so this is completely confidential. Again, free of cost so everything's fully remote. People don't even need to come to our location for either receiving the counseling or the medication. If someone is interested in the medication, we just mail them," Director Francisco Cartujano said.
If you or someone you know wants to quit smoking, you can find resources on this website or by calling (585) 504-9461.
