WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) had 19 trucks working Thursday into Friday to clear roads around Wichita and South Central Kansas.
KDOT crews said this round of snow was easier to clear than the storm earlier in the week that also brought ice. This round they have also seen fewer people on the roads while they're trying to clear them, and that helped speed things along.
J.B. Wilson, a public information officer for KDOT, said there are some problem areas still left to tackle.
"There are some areas like ramps and shoulders, elevated slopes, that can be a little bit tricky when you're removing snow, so just kind of hitting those areas," said Wilson.
KDOT did not have an expected time to be off the road, and said they might still be clearing roadways through Friday night.
