EL RENO, Okla. (KFOR) — A contractor said he is owed over $1,000 for work he completed months ago for an assistant living community in El Reno. Travis Simpson said he was hired for several jobs at Ridgeview Heights senior living community back in October. "It's been too long. I would just like to be paid and move on," said Simpson. He said he worked on everything from the roof to window issues and completed any job he was asked to do. "So far, everything that she's asked me to do, I've had to come out of pocket and buy the materials," said Simpson. Simpson said the apartment manager told him he would be paid within 30 days, but more than six weeks later, he has yet to get any money. Disabled grandmother’s heat gets fixed after call to News 4 "It puts a burden on as business owners because we have insurance, we have to pay to keep us going. We can't get a job without our insurance being up to date and these insurances are not cheap," said Simpson. Simpson said he feels bad when other contactors take people's money, but he deserves to get paid. "Making guys like us who really show up and do the job make us look bad. But, I even feel worse that I show up and do a job and give you great quality work and can't be compensated for it even after giving a discount," said Simpson. So News 4 reached out to the apartment manager and she hung up on us, but Simpson said shortly after our call, he got a call from the new owners promising to make it right. They explained they didn't realize he hadn't been paid by the previous owners. Simpson said this was a lesson for him moving forward. "I guess contractors have to do their due diligence of who they're doing the work for, as well as everyone doing due diligence on us," said Simpson.
