KCPD investigating deadly shooting on I29, near NW 72nd Street

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A deadly shooting Friday night has closed part of Interstate 29 in Platte County.
The shooting was reported just after 7 p.m. on the off ramp of I-29 and NW 72nd Street.
Kansas City police say officers were called to the area after a vehicle was seen running off the roadway.
When officers arrived on scene they located a vehicle south of NW 72nd Street, off the highway on the southbound side and down an embankment up against a barrier fence on the outer road.
Officers approached the vehicle and found a man, who appeared to have been shot, unresponsive inside. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting likely occurred while the victim was traveling south on I-29 at or north of NW 72nd Street, according to KCPD.

The victim has not been identified and no suspect information has been released at this time.
KCPD detectives are still on the scene working to determine what may have led to the shooting.
