OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - In a successful undercover operation, the Oshkosh Police Department rescued a female victim of human trafficking and arrested a suspect linked to trafficking activities across multiple states. According to a Facebook post from the Oshkosh Police Department, the operation is part of the department's ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking. The post states a detective with the Oshkosh Police Department uncovered information indicating that the female victim was staying at a local hotel and was involved in trafficking activities. The officer then approached the suspect, who initially resisted arrest. Following a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody. Oshkosh PD reported that a 32-year-old man, originally from Texas, was found in possession of a stolen firearm and a large quantity of illegal drugs. Authorities say they later discovered a second firearm and more drugs in the hotel room. The suspect has ties to Texas and Colorado but has no known connections to Oshkosh or Wisconsin, and he has a lengthy criminal history. Officials say during that time, the woman was subjected to fear and manipulation while being transported across several states. The pair eventually arrived in Oshkosh, where the victim was rescued. The suspect is currently being held at the Winnebago County Jail and faces multiple felony charges, including Human Trafficking, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and various counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver controlled substances such as methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine.
