GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - She's the hero that Packers fans needed in that moment. By now, most people have seen the pictures and videos circulating on social media of Packers fans preventing Chicago Bears players from doing the Lambeau Leap on Sunday. Front and center in those pictures was diehard Packers fan, Gigi Michele. Associated Press photo "I felt like I was defending our legacy, I wasn't going to let anybody come into our stands when that wasn't their place to be," she told Local 5 News in a Zoom interview. She said her family has owned season tickets near the opposing team's tunnel for over 30 years and that she's been going to Lambeau Field for games her whole life. Gigi added that they're always some of the highlights of her year. Along with the rest of the Packers fans at Lambeau Field, Michele said she watched in disappointment as Bears kicker Cairo Santos nailed the game-winning field goal as time expired to give the Bears their first victory over the Packers since 2018. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources urges caution due to ice related incidents "Once I saw the (Bears players) how excited they were I knew they were going to do something," she said. "You could tell, they looked directly at us and I was like 'Oh no'." Before she knew it, Bears players were Lambeau Leaping into their seats. "When they were jumping towards us, they were trash-talking the whole time, saying 'you're not going to be able to push us down' and 'this is our house' and we aren't going to let them say those things," she said. "They looked directly at us [and] thought they could jump right into the stands because we couldn't push them down, well that isn't what happened. We used all our might, I'm not sure where I got that strength from." Television cameras and photographers captured the moment and it quickly made its rounds on social media. Packers fans applauded Michele for her actions while Bears fans said it was in poor taste. "I mean in the picture my mouth was wide open and that's exactly when I was screaming 'get down,'" she told Local 5 News. "This isn't the thing that I thought I would go viral for."  Packers injury report: Two ruled out, five listed as questionable for wildcard game Michele said she's a diehard Packers fan and her love for the team has driven her to pursue a journalism degree in college. She said in the moment, all she could think about was defending the sacred turf of her favorite team. "They obviously have never watched us do that. I think they should study it if they want to do it next time." Michele said the closest she's ever been to having a player Lambeau Leap into her seat before Sunday was two seats down from her. She said she's hoping it happens someday, and that the player who jumps is a Packers player of course.
