PPD: Traffic stop leads to attempted homicide arrest
Jan 10, 2025
(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) said a traffic stop led to the arrest of a suspect in an attempted homicide.
According to PPD, on Friday, Jan. 10 at around 3:15 a.m., an officer on patrol in the downtown area conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle that had no license plate lights. After the officer reported the license plate number and description of the vehicle, a detective with PPD's Impact Unit recognized the description and responded to the stop.
Both the detective and officer took the attempted homicide suspect, 20-year-old Alexander Vigil, into custody without incident. Vigil has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail on a $250,000 felony attempted homicide warrant.
PPD said the Impact Unit's mission is to disrupt criminal activity within the community and assist in creating a better quality of life for people in the community. The unit uses newly implemented technology such as the Real-Time Crime Center and ShotSpotter to focus on locating and identifying shooters.
